Exploring the Cobblestone Trail

Wednesday, October 17
at 12:00 Noon - in Room 1

Guest Speaker: Doug Farley

Ridge Road or Route 104 begins in Lewiston in Niagara County and runs east along Lake Ontario toward Rochester and beyond. This road has the unique distinction of having the most cobblestone structures built on it than any other highway in America!

Cobblestones were deposited near the shoreline and in the fields after the glaciers retreated from Western New York. Between 1825 and 1860, more than 1200 cobblestone structures were built in North America and 90% of them are within 75 miles of Rochester. Come and join us for a leisurely drive down Ridge Road in search of these cobblestone buildings. You may recognize some of them! All are most welcome to attend and refreshments will be served.
